The Basics

A visit to Middleton Place offers insight into what Southern plantation life was like in the 18th and 19th centuries. A general admission ticket includes access to the sprawling landscaped gardens and plantation stable yards, while possible add-on experiences include a 45-minute guided tour of the House Museum or an open-air carriage tour of the grounds. Those with more time can book a room at the Middleton Place Inn, which includes access to all Middleton points of interest.

The tour was nice. The lunch, chicken, was not worth the price we paid. The house and grounds were very nice

A beautiful preserved land, peaceful and historic. Lunch was very good. Need 3 to 4 hours to look around properly.

We really loved our driver, Mudge. He went over & beyond. However, the food/beverage situation needs improvement

Private Half Day Tour of Middleton Place & Drayton Hall Tour including Box Lunch
Most memorable- the driver (Mudge) Opinion: when offering a lunch box, we would recommend the food be fresh. We were picked up at 9:30am, & our driver already had the food in the front seat in a paper bag. We had just had breakfast, & had planned on eating the food for lunch (noon). But with it being in a paper bag & not kept cold… we did not get to enjoy it. The water in the cooler had no ice; therefore it was hot.

Middleton Place All-Access Admission & Guided Tour with Lunch from Charleston
Middleton Place was beautiful. The biggest drawback of this tour is that there is not enough time to see everything. There should be an option to skip lunch and/or take a later ride back. The lunch was delicious by the way, couldn’t begin to eat it all!

Middleton Place All-Access Admission & Guided Tour with Lunch from Charleston
Needed more time at Middleton Place. House tour and lunch were great, however they took up most of our time allotment, leaving very little time to explore on our own.

Middleton Place All-Access Admission & Guided Tour with Lunch from Charleston
Great way to spend the day. Middleton Place is beautiful and the historic value is high. Transportation to and from is nice and the driver was engaging and enjoyable. Only downside of the day was the buffet lunch which was mediocre and bland.

Beautiful property and gardens. Like walking through a jungle in parts. Saw alligators just sitting on the path! Good food and great docents.

Not bad, would have liked a little more information

Middleton Place All-Access Admission & Guided Tour with Lunch from Charleston
Lunch was great, and the guide on the van was really informative and friendly. The house museum was beautiful but it wasn’t as informative as it could have been - they gave you information if you asked but a little more guidance/offered information would have been better. Not the fault of the venue, but the rain made it difficult to see everything. They had umbrellas available to borrow but the pathways were several inches deep with water which made walking around difficult.

Things to Know Before You Go

When to Get There

While Middleton Place is open throughout the year, many visitors plan their trip based on what’s blooming in the gardens. The winter months see centuries-old camellias burst into bloom, while vibrant azaleas put on a show above Rice Mill Pond in spring. In summer, expect roses, crepe myrtles, magnolias, and kalmia—as well as high temperatures.
