The Basics

History, shopping, and South Carolina culture lure visitors to the Charleston City Market in droves. Visit on a Charleston walking tour to learn about the market’s long history as a commerce hub from a tour guide, or browse the market’s indoor Great Hall and centuries-old outdoor sheds on your own. Stroll past low country goods like stone-ground grits, sweetgrass baskets, and benne wafers, plus home goods, crafts, and clothing from more than 300 vendors, many of whom make their wares by hand.

Great time was had by all!
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a fun dry sence of humor! Our 3 restaurant selections offered all of us a well rounded example of Southern flavors. Our guide was well versed in the history of Charleston and he even did a little ghost tour. Highly recommended !

Charleston City Sightseeing Bus Tour
Fantastic tour with so much information about the beautiful and historic city of Charleston! Our guide, Neal has an amazing wealth of knowledge and truly made this bus tour worth every penny! The bus was clean, air conditioned and had comfy seats for the tour! Neal was also super helpful and professional in contacting and meeting me to drop off my phone that was left behind! Would highly recommend Pineapple Tour Group when considering learning a bit more about the rich history of Charleston!

Downtown Charleston Culinary Walking Food Tour of French Quarter & City Market
Our tour guide, Sommer, was very knowledgeable about Charleston and delivered her information with personality. The group of 12 was fun to be with. I thought the food selections were okay, but some items were very small. It would be nice if people could have a choice of which restaurants to visit based on the food selections and know which foods would be offered the day of Tour.

Charleston City Sightseeing Bus Tour
I wish I could remember our guides name, but he was a history buff! He made the tour very interesting. It was hot the day we toured so being in the bus was nice to be able to cover a lot of ground and see a lot of the high points of Charleston.

How to Get There

The Charleston City Market is located at the intersection of Market and Meeting streets in Charleston’s historic district. Though there are street parking spots and parking garages nearby, it’s best to walk or take public transit, as traffic can be thick and parking can be limited. The free DASH shuttle and the city’s many pedicabs are both good options.
