Casablanca

The Basics

Around the square are many of Casablanca’s most important administrative buildings, reflecting the resplendent Mauresque and Art Deco style architecture popularized during the French colonial period, as envisioned by French architect Henri Prost. Travelers may explore Mohammed V Square as part of a half-day, full-day or multi-day private or groups tours incorporating Casablanca’s most noteworthy attractions including tropical gardens and Hispanic-Muslim and Art Deco buildings from the 1920s.

Casablanca Half-Day Tour: Hassan II Mosque, Mohammed V Square and Central Market
Great tour with visit to the Mosque no lines, the guide was helpful enough to get us into the mosque without doing any line The Mosque was almost empty so we had a really nice view with slow pace throughout the mosque then going to the Catholic church and the walls made of colored crystals. We pass through Rick's Cafe, not good food open in 1984, a really good resemblance to the movie

Casablanca Half-Day Tour: Hassan II Mosque, Mohammed V Square and Central Market
Our guide, Mohammed Magic was charming and very knowledgeable about Casablanca and Morocco. He told us a lot of history, which was very interesting. We went to the Hassan Mosque, walked the promenade, ate prickly pear cactus, and bought rugs.Magic was very open to what we wanted to do. Highly recommend him and the three hour tour.

Casablanca Half-Day Tour: Hassan II Mosque, Mohammed V Square and Central Market
The highlight of this tour was the ability to enter and explore the third largest mosque in the world. Generally, one cannot enter a mosque unless Moslem but this mosque permits it. It was beautiful and a great experience. Our guide was good and the rest of the tour was good but the mosque was the highlight.

Casablanca Half-Day Tour: Hassan II Mosque, Mohammed V Square and Central Market
This half day tour was great however, I was brought once again to a carpet factory as well as an Argon oil place. I didn't mind the carpet place on this tour as they were not pushy and I actually bought a rug! The tour manager Mohammad was really nice and provided some great information about Casablanca. He took me to places that were not on the itinerary, like Rick's Café!

We were very lucky. Our tour was during Ramadhan and we had an excellent guide to ourselves who tailored the tour to our exact requirements. We could not have been happier.

Casablanca Half-Day Tour: Hassan II Mosque, Mohammed V Square and Central Market
Since I only had a day in Casablanca, this tour was perfect to give me a broad vision of what Casablanca has to offer. Magic was so accommodating and responsive to my interests, and took me around the city, from the magnificent Hassan II mosque it is worth it to go inside, to the Corniche on the Atlantic, and a tour through some of Casablanca's neighbourhoods. Magic is a cosmopolitan, sweet Moroccan guide who wanted to make sure I had a good time and learned a lot about his country. Yes, I did end up coming home with a gorgeous camel-hair berber rug on which I surely could have haggled a better price, but the rug will always remind me of my short visit to Morocco, and will remind me to go back. The visits to the shops and the medina were quick and I didn't feel pressure to buy anything. Magic made sure that I was on time for my flight later that day and knew exactly how to make me feel relaxed and entertained the whole time. I would highly recommend this tour!
