National Aviary of Colombia (Aviario Nacional de Colombia) Tours and Activities

Home to around 190 different species of bird, the National Aviary of Colombia harbors diverse flora and more than 2,000 birds. The 17-acre (7-hectare) park categorises birds according to three Colombian ecosystems—tropical rainforest, coastal zone, and desert—and promises an enriching experience for wildlife lovers.

You can reach the aviary by personal car, public transportation, or on a tour that includes pickup and drop-off in Cartagena. The aviary also offers pickup from Cartagena in a private car.
When to Get There
The aviary is open every day from 9am to 5pm; last entry is at 4pm. To catch the Birds on the Fly educational presentation, visit at 11:30am or 3:30pm. The aviary gift shop is open daily and the onsite restaurant is open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Aviary on the island of Baru

There are seven hectares that allow us to observe a unique and wonderful collection in Colombia and Latin America. Birds are exhibited in a representation of their natural habitat, in environments very similar to those from which they originate.
Through ecological trails you can enjoy three ecosystem environments and 22 exhibits divided into large immersion aviaries, radial aviaries, marshes and lakes. They are different landscape, vegetable and water environments, which allow to appreciate a great diversity of bird species.

Cartagena private aviary tour
In the national aviary you will be guided through the modern and representative display of birdlife in natural environments, you will know the Colombian diversity which is the first country in diversity of bird species in the world. Colombia has almost 20% of species identified worldwide. It currently has 1,913 species, of which 76 are endemic.
This aviary contains 170 native bird species, 20 exotic bird species, and 2000 specimens. Three endemic species: Paujil piquiazul (Crax Alberti), Caribbean Guacharaca (Ortalis garrula), and the Colombian Guacharaca (Ortalis columbiana).
