How to Spend 1 Day in Benidorm
The former fishing village of Benidorm is now one of the best-known resorts on Spain’s Costa Blanca. One day in town means that you’ll still be able to explore the Old Town and enjoy some fun in the sun. Read on for tips on how to make the most of your time in Benidorm.
Morning: Around Town
In the morning, get your bearings with some sightseeing around town. To maximize your time, take a bike or Segway tour; both provide a great introduction to local culture and history, and typically cover top sights such as Benidorm Palace, the Levante Beach Promenade, and the Old Town. If you’d prefer to explore at your own pace, board a hop-on hop-off tourist trolley for an audio-guided trip around town; stops include Market Rincon de Loix, Levante and Poniente Beaches, and Elche Park.
Afternoon: On the Water
No trip to Benidorm would be complete without enjoying the sand and sea. Spend the afternoon on one of Benidorm’s two white-sand beaches—choose between lively Levante Beach or the family-friendly Poniente Beach—or opt for something more adventurous, such as Jet Skiing around Benidorm Island, kayaking to hidden coves, or parasailing above the beach. Families should head to Benidorm’s Aqualandia Water Park or observe the critters at Mundomar Benidorm exotic animal park; save time on the day by booking your admission tickets in advance.
Night: Paint the Town
In Benidorm, there’s a night out to suit just about every taste. Relax on a romantic catamaran cruise at sunset; catch a Vegas-style performance at Benidorm Palace theater; try your luck playing roulette or blackjack at the Casino Mediterráneo; or party with locals on a barhopping excursion to some of Benidorm’s top nightclubs, many of which are LGTBQ-friendly. Spaniards tend to eat late, so plan for a late dinner at one of the tapas bars in the Old Town.
