New Silk Alley Market (Xiu Shui)
The Basics
There are six floors and three basement levels to the market, and many types of goods have a dedicated section where multiple vendors offer similar products. You can even get clothing tailored here in just 24 hours. There are also cafés, coffee shops, and eateries within the market. Visit independently or as part of a shopping or shopping-and-culture tour of Beijing. Make the most of your day by adding a tour of top Beijing attractions.
Things to Know Before You Go
Bargaining is expected here, and marked prices are inflated to account for that.
Buyer beware, as not all the goods sold here are authentic.
Some of the vendors here can be quite pushy.
Bring cash as many vendors do not accept credit cards.
Bring small bills and change to pay for goods to minimize the risk of receiving counterfeit bills in return.
How to Get There
The New Silk Alley Market is located at Yong’anli, west of the China World Trade Center. By subway, take Line 1 to Yong’anli Station. Exit A will lead you to the underground entrance to the market. A number of buses also stop nearby, including Nos. 1, 9, 28, 43, 120, 403, 619, 643, 668, and 673.
