The Basics

From Jinshanling, a six-mile (10-kilometer) stretch of largely unrestored wall leads to Simatai, where it's possible to take another steep, two-hour hike to and from a hilltop watchtower (there's also a cable car that heads most of the way up) or to continue on toward the Great Wall at Gubeikou. Visitors can choose between a small-group or private tour. Non-morning people can opt for a sunset visit to either the Simatai Great Wall or Jinshanling Great Wall, minus the hike.

Perfect Tour
Perfect tour! Exactly what I was looking for. Easy meeting place outside a metro stop, small mini-bus so limits the size of the group to 14 (we had 12 of the day I went), no unnecessary stops or time-wasting and good 3 hours exploring a very quiet section of the Great Wall. The Wall itself was one of the greatest things I've ever seen and well worth the trip. And our tour guide was lovely and informative.

Beijing Private Transfer to Jinshanling or Simatai Great Wall
We have been fetched by the driver punctually with one of those large cars. Everything was clean, the driver was very polite and funny. The walk on the wall was the best part of our trip to China, even if there were many nice places. I highly recommend it.

Jinshanling Great Wall Morning Hiking Tour
EXCELLENT tour! This was one of the best days of my life! This part of the wall is breathtakingly beautiful and our little group was very lucky to strike it on a perfect winters day and have it to ourselves. It was truly an honour to walk the walk in this way. The tour guide was very nice and gave us all the information we needed then left us to walk on our own, at our own pace.

One Day Group Tour of Jinshanling Great Wall Hiking in Beijing
Chan and his tour team are exceptional. They pick you up from your airport, give you a fantastic tour full of laughs, accessing exclusive wall areas, a wonderful post hike meal, and will even bring you back to your hotel for a little extra. The tour was gorgeous, and the people involved were even better.

Private 3-Day Great Wall Trek Trip to Huanghuacheng, Gubeikou, Jinshanling from Beijing
My trip was seamless. James, my guide, was great making sure I experienced the Great Wall in an intimate and personal way. Food was great as was my stay at a farmer's home. I would highly recommend Great Wall Trek Club.

Coach Day Tour - Jinshanling Great Wall Hiking Tour
This tour was great! Our tour guide Robert provided information about the Great Wall. He also gave clear directions as where and when to meet. This portion of the great wall involves steep slopes and stairs. Being able to see this portion of the wall was amazing. It was great to see parts of the original wall that are not redone. I would recommend this tour.

Everything OK

Group Great Wall Hiking Tour from Jinshanling to Simatai West
The tour included return trip from Beijing to the Great Wall. The drive itself was OK, also did one stop each way (approx 3h drives). We only missed a bit more general information about the Great Wall while driving and not while hiking as we were dedicated to photos there (and thus quickly lost the guide).

Great Wall at Gubeikou and Jinshanling Private Sunset Tour
Tony was our guide and we found him to be excellent. Good command of the English language and knowledgeable on all sorts of subjects. Would thoroughly recommend this tour for the splendour that is not spoiled with battling the masses - if we saw 20 people on the Wall that day it was a lot! Sunset disappointing owing to the cloud cover but Viator can hardly be blamed for that!

Group Great Wall Hiking Tour from Jinshanling to Simatai West
Fabulous day... had the wall to ourselves... very helpful guide. Good to bring some little snacks for the hike and if it's summer time maybe bring an extra shirt and lots of sunscreen.

Great Wall at Gubeikou and Jinshanling Private Sunset Tour
This was an amazing day and our guide Leo took so much special care to make it an unforgettable visit to the Great Wall. My son and I shared a mutual interest in photogrpahy with Leo and he took some great pictures which he sent through to us after the tour. We can not thank Leo enough for making this such a memorable day

Jinshanling Great Wall Morning Hiking Tour
The transfer to the wall lasted 3 hours. Bus is comfortable. The guide speaks English fluently. On the wall we had 3h which was a little bit less. The guide was not with us. We did not find the exit in this time and could not attend the lunch at the restaurant but they brought us the meal for take away in the bus. Overall a good experience and the wall is impressive. Not so many tourists there and good for photographers.
