The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) will give you good reason to head into the gritty streets of the El Raval neighborhood, just west of the tourist-filled Las Ramblas. Partially located in a 19th-century almshouse, the urban culture center is a hub for discovery, debate and reflection.
The multidisciplinary institution is noted for its impressive offering of everything from debates, concerts, readings, festivals and exhibitions. Indeed, it’s those conversation-worthy rotating exhibitions that will draw the everyday visitor, so be sure to check the center’s schedule in advance to see what might be of interest to you. And, since the CCCB sits in the El Raval neighborhood, you have all the more reason to wander this often-unexplored part of Barcelona.
The CCCB is free on Sundays after 3 p.m. While in the area, you may also wish to visit the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA), which is located just around the corner (MACBA is closed on Tuesdays). Note that El Raval, while a very intriguing neighborhood, can be a little rough around the edges at times, so take extra care to watch your belongings and to be aware of your surroundings.

We visited Picasso museum and didn't want to leave. So many artworks and we definitely want to go back. Also visited CCCB and it was cool

I’m so glad I did this museum pass, it was not expensive and it’s good for a year from the time it was first used. I frequent Europe each year so I will return again to see more art museums here in Barcelona. The really cool part was that I didn’t have to wait in any lines and I saw lots of great art in this incredible city.
Barcelona Museum Pass
, Aug 2019
This was a great idea and a great deal. Even if you don't see all 6 museums (we saw 4) on the passport it is a cost and time saving. The one slightly negative aspect was the way were greeted at the first venue (Museum of Contemporary Art). There was a bit of a mixup with Tourist Information telling us to just go to the museum to hand in our coupon (they didn't have copies of the current passports or something). The staff were a bit less than pleasant about it, but in the end we got our passport and the staff at all the other venues have been tremendously pleasant and helpful.

Private Sightseeing Tours
In this self-guided tour, we have tried to show that Barcelona is not only about Sagrada Familia and medieval cathedrals, as most people tend to think. Barcelona is also about an incredible number of creative artists, an exclusive collection of street art, minimalist art galleries, cafes, whose walls are decorated with eclectic photos, a combination of melodies that sound absolutely magical, resonating from the ancient stone walls. There are many secrets within the streets of this old city, some of which you can never guess. Come and take this great walk with me, which will reveal Barcelona to you in an all-new light! Our path will go through these areas: Raval, Gothic, and El Born. The tour goes entirely on foot, with small, albeit fantastic stops.
