The Basics

Visitors can prebook an admission ticket to the Pont du Gard site. Tickets gives access to the first level of the bridge; a museum; the family-oriented Ludo Children’s Center; the open-air Mémoires de Garrigue trail, which covers local agricultural history; and a cinema that screens a short film on the Pont du Gard. Upgrade with the Pass Aqueduct to join a guided tour of the top level of the bridge too.

Many travelers come to the bridge during guided day tours from Avignon, Arles, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, and even Paris. Day tours typically combine a visit to the Pont du Gard with stops at Avignon, Uzès, or Nîmes, or at picturesque Provence villages such as Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Les Baux-de-Provence, Gordes, and Roussillon. Some day tours to Pont du Gard include wine-tasting sessions in Côtes du Rhône or Provence.

A very enjoyable afternoon around the towns and sights of the Rhone.
This tour packed in so much in five hours and our guide, Anne, was really knowledgeable and went out of her way to ensure we had an excellent experience - Chateau Neuf de Pape, Orange and Pont de Gard were wonderful. Highly recommended.

Nimes, Uzes & Pont du Gard Small Group Half-Day Tour from Avignon
Our guide was so knowledgeable and knew just where to take us. The Pont du Gard was awesome. It was the right amount of time being a half day trip and in the morning was good because of the heat.

Half-Day Provence Pont du Gard and Wine Tasting Tour from Avignon
Loved checking out the winery and hearing about the districts. Seeing Pont du Gard and Orange were the highlights. Anna was a great guide and made sure we had great pictures, learned the highlights of the area and had a lovely time.

Half-Day Provence Pont du Gard and Wine Tasting Tour from Avignon
Very knowledgable tour guide , Anna. Disappointed with the wine tasting as too busy and had to come back. When we did poor service and attention. Tickets to the Roman theatre were not cheap but Pont Du Guard was fee and a chance to paddle in the river. Tour bus was cool and water supplies. Nice walk through the town of Chateau Neuf De Pape

Saint Remy, Les Baux and Pont du Gard Small Group Day Trip
A great afternoon tour, with enough time to wander the village and take in the sites. Our guide was personable and provided plenty of information about the area, but allowed us the freedom to move about.

Nimes, Uzes & Pont du Gard Small Group Half-Day Tour from Avignon
Ann knew the best photo spots and she was glad to take some of us with noteworthy backgrounds like the Pont du Gard or the coliseum in Nîmes. There was a lot to see in a long half day but for us it was time we’ll spent. You don’t have a lot of time in any one spot. We learned a lot even though we’d done preliminary reading. Helps that we had a beautiful sunny day.

Half-Day Provence Pont du Gard and Wine Tasting Tour from Avignon
Small group: our family of five and three other individuals. 2 of our sons were able to participate in wine tasting, but youngest just listened to the session. Anne, our guide, was pleasant and sassy while imparting regional and site history. Yes, my teen/early twenty year old sons enjoyed the tour. Good way to see other areas surrounding Avignon, include a wine tasting and learn some history, as we had limited time.

When to Get There

June, July, and August are usually the driest months, making them a good time to visit the site, much of which is in the open air. On select evenings in June, the bridge is the setting for the Les Féeries du Pont sound and light show. The summer months are also peak visitor season. Tourist numbers begin to wane in September.

Best Views of the Pont du Gard

While you will have excellent views of the river from the bridge, the best views of the Pont du Gard itself are from the banks and the hillsides surrounding the river. Follow the 2.1-mile (3.5-kilometer) Aqueduct Trail for some of the best lookouts and photo opportunities.
