Fox Theatre Tours

Melding culture, history, and architecture, the Fox Theatre is Atlanta’s performing arts hub, hosting everything from Broadway-style plays to rock concerts. The opulent theater was built in the 1920s and boasts mosque-like minarets, an Egyptian ballroom, and a ceiling made to resemble the night sky with twinkling stars.
The Basics
The historic theater was restored to its original grandeur in the 1970s and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. Take a guided tour to learn about the theater’s journey from 1920s movie palace to near demolition and the community outcry that resulted in its rescue. For the full experience, book tickets to see a show in the 4,678-seat theater. With 300-plus yearly performances, it's easy to catch a show at the Fox.
Things to Know Before You Go
- History buffs and architecture enthusiasts should book a guided tour of the theater.
- To see a show, book tickets online, by phone, or at the box office.
- Wheelchair accessible seating and loaner wheelchairs are available. Note your seating preference when booking tickets.
- Book your tour and show tickets in advance—both sell out.
How to Get There
There is no parking available at the theater, but you can park in surrounding lots for a fee. To avoid the parking hassle, travel by bus or rail. If traveling by rail, stop at the North Avenue MARTA station—located one block from the theater. If traveling by bus, take the No. 40 MARTA bus.
When to Get There
Tours are offered on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. For showtimes, see the theater’s online event schedule.
