The Basics

Walk along the long colonnaded street towards the gate flanked by towers, and continue on to the expansive Greco-Roman theater decorated with impressive marble reliefs and a 12,000-seat stadium. Get a feel for ordinary life at the agora and the public baths, and stand at the place where Saint Paul preached his first sermon in 46 AD.

Most tours of Perge include the outstanding Aspendos Theater and a refreshing break at the Kursunlu Waterfalls. Longer tours tack on beach time in Side, and more immersive multi-day tours may explore Ephesus, Hierapolis, Xantos, Letoon, Patara, Myra, Olympos, Phaselis, as well as the other-worldly Cappadocia and the mystical city of Konya.

Lovely tour guide and beautiful historic city. Only one thing was really good is the weather, too hot in Antalya.

5 in 1: THE BEST OF ANTALYA region: Perge, Aspendos, Side, Kursunlu Waterfall
Tour was great. Lots of great history. Perge was amazing because you can see the layout of how the cities looked. Each site was really magical. The waterfall was beautiful and peaceful. Aspendos theater was magnificent and our guide told us about the layout and a story about the man who built it. We got some free time, about 15/20 mins to explore on our own. The aquaducts were grandiose and amazing architecture to see. Side was really cool to see a modern city atop the ancient one. They are excavating more and the have view platforms under your feet. Apollo's temple was looking over the water with athena's just to the right. Great tour if you love ancient history. Our guide was knowledgeable and kind. He answered a lot of my questions before I even had to ask. He also informed us of life today in Turkey which was really helpful. Being able to see so many sites in a day and getting in depth information was also really nice rather than just super basic information. The pickup and drop off were on time and the ride was really nice, comfortable and clean. There is some walking involved, which I loved. I recommend comfortable shoes and water. I highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic trip. Great guide who explained just enough and struck the right balance with allowing free time. So many amazing things to see and great service and value for money.

We had a another long but lovely tour with our guide Genghis, who escorted us thorough all the sights and then given free time to explore the attractions. The tour was conducted with historical explanations as well as a sense of humour.

The tour guide is nice gentlemen who can speak good English and is knowledgeable, able to answer all of our questions. It is just that the time alloted to Side is a bit rushed. Overall it was good.

This tour was WONDERFUL. They confirmed with us and made sure we knew all the details of the trip. We were picked up on time by a very nice gentleman who was our English speaking tour guide. The tour locations were fabulous and our guide appeared to be a history buff making sure all of our questions were answered. The bus driver was also nice and accommodating. The tour guide was patient and kind and had a great sense of humor. It was a long day but DEFINITELY worth every penny. Don't miss this tour if you are in Antalya! It's a great one!!!

By FAR the best trip of our holiday. Our guide spoke very good English and was so knowledgeable on every site visited. It's a lot packed into one day and it was a shame we didn't have longer in each place, but I would still very much recommend this. The reasonably comfortable, air-conditioned bus was also a bonus compared to some other trips. At this time of year end of September, the waterfalls were a bit of a disappointment, but it was still a nice wee walk down to the bigger ones and round by the small ones.

How to Get There

Perge is about 11 miles (17 kilometers) northeast of Antalya; expect about 20 minutes on the road. Most people visit on a guided tour, but if you go independently, take a minibus from Antalya's Otogar bus terminal to Aksu along the Antalya-Side highway, then hike for about 20 minutes or take a taxi.

When to Get There

Perge is open year-round daily, with slightly earlier opening and closing times from November to March. Come early in the morning when you may have the site to yourself. High tourist season in Antalya is summer (June through August) and Easter week. Come in the fall when the weather is still warm, and the crowds have left, or in the spring when wildflowers are in bloom.

Wildcard

Aspendos Theater A few miles/kilometers from Perge is this 2,000-year-old theater, considered to be the best remaining example of an ancient theater. Made of an exceedingly high-quality calcareous stone, the stunning theater is intact and even hosts a summertime ballet and opera festival. Even if you miss the festival, the site of the theater is unparalleled in the world.
